Next up... Vegas!

Oh baby!  Next week I'm heading out to Lost Wages for the very first time!  I'm really looking forward to the trip but since I've never been there I have no idea what to expect.  I'm not a huge gambler, but I'm told that there are a ton of other things to do in Vegas.

I'm heading there with a group of friends (about 10-15 of us) and I'm sure everyone will have their own agenda for the trip.  Lucky for me a few of my close friends have offered to take me under their wing and show me how to do Vegas up right!

It's amazing though, how many people are just dying to share what they know about Vegas with you.  I've put the word out that I'm a neophyte when it comes to Sin City, and people are stepping over each other to offer me advice (most prominently - Don't Go!).  I love the ideas that have been mentioned too, and boy some of the ideas are pretty creative.

Having said that, if you have any ideas for me, feel free to pass them along in the comments section.  I'm looking for tips on Restaurants, Shows, Shopping, Places to See, Things to Do, Things to Avoid, and any tips in general that might help me out!  Ways to save money are also greatly appreciated as I suspect I'll probably drop a few more dollars than I'd like while I'm down there.  *cringe*  Ah heck... it's my first time, lets just see what happens! So keep those suggestions coming....

Ok.... annnnnnd..... go!

Go see Absinthe! You won't regret it! It is playing in the big tent in the courtyard in front of Caesar's Place. The beer gardens there are free, if you opt not to go to the show & very much worth checking out. Pretty damn cool. The discount ticket places on the strip will save you at least $20 per ticket. No need to pay for the VIP seats. All the seats are good. The theatre/tent is set up in a fashion that each seat offers an intimate experience. The show is sexy, hilarious and breathtaking. You will not regret seeing this show. Time will pass in the blink of an eye. I literally had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at times. Think Cirque de Soleil with a frat boy sense of humour.

Food! Oh sweet food! I am going to forget a lot of places, but these are the ones that immediately jump to mind.

Hussong's Cantina - located in the walkway between Mandalay Bay & Luxor. Their nachos & Classic Margarita (I think that's the one - it's their house special one if I am not remembering the name right) are the best I have ever had. That's saying a lot for a nacho lover. Also, the Enchalada Plazeras is amazing.

Wazuzu - in Encore (part of Wynn) has a fantastic dish called Drunken Noodles. It is the only thing I ate there, but good enough that I want to go back and have it again. The crystal dragon they have on the wall is pretty cool and worth checking out. While you're at the Wynn, accept a complimentary drink. Apparently the vodka they use is Grey Goose.

Ellis Island Casino - it's one block off the strip & part of the Super 8 complex. Ask for their steak special (it isn't on the menu.) It is only $8. You get a baseball cut steak that is pretty damn tasty, a baked potato and choice of soup or salad. These are pretty basic but not bad by any means. PLUS, it includes a pint of microbrew that is really good. I don't drink American beer but glad I made an exception for it! Everyone needs to have at least one cheap Vegas meal.

Fat Tuesdays - This is the place to buy frozen slushy drinks. They do not skimp on the alcohol. If you are curious about flavors, they are happy to offer up free samples.
